Cabot Trail in 4 Days 2017 Info & Poster


By popular demand, the VCB Cabot Trail in 4 Days is back for a 6th Edition.

THE CABOT TRAIL:  Named one of the TOP 10 Cycling destinations in the World by Lonely Planet in 2010, and since toured by thousands of cyclists from around the world, the Cabot Trail is a “MUST” on the bucket list of every cyclist.  300 km of paved roads, from softly rolling terrain to steep climbs winding its way through the quiet Margaree Valley on the first day, then following along the shores of the Gulf of St.Lawrence, the scenic Highlands National Park to end along the scenic Atlantic coast of Cape Breton Island.  Cabot Trail in 4 Days is a fully supported tour where everyone cycles at their own pace and style.  No pressure.  

ITINERARY:  Clockwise direction leaving the Gaelic College in St. Ann’s Bay on Saturday August 5th to Tuesday August 8th.  Day 1, To Margaree Harbour, 85km. Day 2,  to Pleasant Bay, 70km. Day 3, to Ingonish, 71km and Day 4, to Gaelic College, 71km.  There will be optional side tours suggested to shorten or lengthen the day’s ride.

DETAILS:  We provide: 3 nights’ hotel/motel accommodation, luggage transportation, bike mechanic assistance, support vehicle at your service should you need a lift or other assistance, healthy meals Saturday evening to Tuesday morning, Park fees, and snack food enroute.  Children 16 - 18 years, must be accompanied by an adult.

PREPARATION:  Cycling the Cabot Trail requires a moderate level of fitness. Bicycles must be in good working order.

COST:  $565. /pers. double accommodation

REGISTRATION:  before June 1, 2017, $50.  (deductible from total cost); between June 1 and July 10, 2017 - $75.  ($50. deductible from total cost).   No registration accepted after July 10, 2017

“First Come, First Serve!”  The payment of your Registration fee will confirm a spot to the first 40 registered participants on the Tour.  A “Waiting List” will be kept to fill vacancies if any.  Those on the “Waiting List” who will not be called to replace a cancellation will be reimbursed 100%.  

CANCELLATION FEES:  $0.00 before June 1st, $35. from June 1st to July 10th.  Note:  Cancellation after July 10 will not be refunded.

IMPORTANT:  Because the organizers must meet certain conditions attached to the Group Rates, (i.e. important non-refundable deposit 60 days in advance - Jun 5th) the organizers reserve the right to cancel the Tour and reimburse all fees collected if the number of registrations has not reached 20 by June 2nd, 2017.

RELEASE OF LIABILITY AND INDEMNIFICATION AGREEMENT
In my name/the name of my child, I am aware that the participation of me/my child in bicycling activities involves certain danger and risks and I freely and fully assume all such danger and risks and the possibility of personal injury, death, property damage or loss resulting there from. I, for myself/my child, my heirs, next-of-kin, executors, administrators and assigns, hereby release Velo Cape Breton Bicycle Association, its officers, directors, members and volunteers from any liability, and waive all claims, causes of actions of any kind whatsoever I may have as a result of me/my child sustaining personal injury, death, property damage or loss while participating in any Velo Cape Breton Bicycle Association activities or events. I, for myself/my child, my heirs, next-of-kin, executors, administrators and assigns hereby agree as follows:

  1. to waive any and all claims that may result against Velo Cape Breton Bicycle Association, its directors, officers, volunteers, sponsors and members all of whom are hereinafter referred to as the “releasees”;
  2. to release the releasees from any and all liability for any loss, damage, injury or expense that I/my child may suffer or that my next-of-kin may suffer as a result of my/my child’s participation in said events and activities;
  3. to save harmless and indemnity the releasees from any and all liability for any property damage, personal injury or death to any third party from my/my child’s participation in said events and activities.
